Our Research Goals Memories are central to our personal identity and essential to our every day life. How are neurons able to encode, consolidate and recall memory of events? How is sleep important in memory consolidation? The Williams laboratory is interested in investigating how large population of neurons underlie memory function. We are also interested in understanding why memory is dysfunctional in Alzheimer’s disease and how memory loss can be reversed. We use a combination of state-of-the-art techniques such as cellular resolution brain imaging, electrophysiology and optogenetics in freely behaving mice.
